On October 10, 2002, Caitlin was diagnosed with a rare inoperable brain tumor called a Diffused
Pontine Glioma. The tumor is located in the pons area of the brain stem. The brain stem is a very
critical part of the brain that controls vital functions like breathing, coordination, chewing, and
swallowing. Children with this type of tumor get a poor prognosis.
Caitlin went through six weeks of high energy photon radiation, a kind of external radiation that
zooms in on the tumor while leaving healthy tissue alone. A MRI on January 21, 2003 showed 75%
reduction in enhancement (cancer). I found out about a non toxic treatment called Protocel that gave
Caitlin great results. Caitlin had been fighting hard and just had enough. On February 8, 2004,
Caitlin decided it was her time to become an angel.

On December 25th 2006, Caitlin's baby brother Preston Joseph was born.
"A butterfly lights beside us, like a sunbeam... and for a brief moment it's glory and beauty belong to our world... but then it flies on again, and although we wish it could have stayed, we are so thankful to have seen it at all"
